TAMS Success

Our first TAMS collection for the new season got off to a super start today with a haul of rhubarb, blackcurrants, gooseberries, beans, swedes and kale set out for pick up.

Thanks to all who contributed and volunteered surplus stuff.  Remember TAMS collect every Thursday at 15.00 and net profits come back to GFAA to help fund our site maintenance activities.

It’s TAMS Time

The Allotment Market Stall (TAMS) project is about to start its collections for the new season.

TAMS collects any surplus produce plotters want to see go to a good cause and sells it over the weekend.  The profits generated are then returned to GFAA as a contribution to our running costs.  It’s a real win-win arrangement.  Leave your contributions by the Bothy please.

If you have stuff on your plot you want to donate but find it difficult to get down to put it out for TAMS collection drop an email to webhelper [at] gmail.com and we will arrange for the volunteer squad to pick it up and put it in place – but please be specific about what is to be taken!

Gordon Mitchell joins us

It’s a great pleasure to welcome our most recent volunteer, Gordon Mitchell.  Gordon joined us a few weeks back and is now a regular on site on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Gordon with Linda MacDonald from Momentum Skills

Meantime Gordon has worked in and around the Community Garden, looking after the raised beds and watering in the poly tunnel.  He has just started work on a new project, installing and maintaining some bird feeders as part of our contribution to the IYN Birds, bees and trees focus for this year.

If any plotters have any feeders or bird tables not in use, please pass them on to Gordon or leave them in the Bothy or Octagon if that is easier.

Please be sure to come over and say hello to Gordon if you see him working.  He will be especially pleased to share ideas for encouraging small song birds on site.

The Great Garthdee Biodiversity Challenge

We hoped Miss Rennie’s Primary 4/5 Class would rise to the biodiversity treasure hunt challenge and find it fun: and of course they did not disappoint.

Getting to the big message, but where are the boys?

Ah, there they are…

So what’s the big message?

Did we have fun? We sure did!
