Community Sunday – Huge Thanks!

I’d like to thank everyone who turned out to help on yesterday’s Community Sunday, plotters and friends from RGU and MacMillan – indeed even Mr Toad Jnr!  With so many hands available we got through a tonne of tasks and the new style General Meeting generated all sorts of good ideas for funding, better gardening and wider community engagement. It was super to see so many old hands and new faces on the day.  Thanks to all who managed along and for the bakers and makers who produced such a wonderful spread for the coffee and cake session.

All aboard please!

Vinny’s Trailer Tours proved as popular as ever at today’s bbq.  Brilliant to see so many youngsters on site.

Pollinators on Parade

There were pollinators a plenty on the plots today: like the rest of us, scudding before the storms threatened for the afternoon perhaps.

Hopefully, they and lots of plotters will be back around on Sunday 11.00 – 12.30 for our Community Sunday Activities – with added coffee and cake for all those with two legs!

New site feature – Photo Galleries

Our site has a new photo showing feature.  From now on photo collections will appear via the Galleries link above.  Photos should look better and load faster.  Please let me know how you get on using it.

The first set has some nice photos from our recent Community Sunday – as you see, great fun was had by all and with a good turnout we got lots of valuable things done.  There wasn’t much doubt about who won the Chocolate Easter Egg Hunt! Thanks to all who managed along.

In the meantime the Photos Page link will be left in place as a way of looking back to previous photo collections, but I’ll hope to move them over to the new Galleries area if it proves reliable and popular.

BBQ in the Sunshine

We got very lucky with today’s BBQ and the weather stayed fine for the duration.  GFAA was pleased to welcome friends from TAMS and The Macmillan Charity on the day.  The raffle and donations on the day raised £210 for Macmillan funds.  Special thanks go to Gill for all her hard work organising things.

Community Sunday Thanks

StuartI’d like to say a big thank you to all who turned up at the weekend to make our first Community Sunday of the year such a great success.  We think we had a record high turnout and managed to get a whole bunch of tasks completed.  By the end of the session the site was looking great and some essential maintenance got completed to the Bothy roof.

CommunitySundayAdThanks to the enthusiasm and efforts of all those who were able to come along we have made a super start to the 2016 season.  If you could not make it this time I hope you will be able to come along to our next Community Sunday which is planned for 20 March.

The plan stays the same – about an hour or so of activities suitable for all ages and stages followed by coffee, cake and a good natter.  What’s not to like!
