Kaimhill Primary 2 come visiting…

GFAA played host to Ms Walker’s Primary 2 Class from Kaimhill School today. I think we can safely say that a good time was had by all!

The kids enjoyed a runner bean sowing and growing activity with Stuart and a visit to Gill’s plot to explore what different veggies look like when they are growing.

Two other class visits are planned, for Wednesday 17 and Thursday 25 June, between 1.30 and 2.30 in each case.  If you could find the time to help with either of these visits please let Stuart or me know. Any and all offers help will be very much welcomed.

Sonia Parker Degree Show

You may remember Sonia Packer visiting our site to take photos for her RGU degree project. Sonia has been kind enough to invite us to her final degree show – see details below.

Snap, Crackle and Pop

Today’s Spring Bonfire had a bit of everything – snap, crackle and pop, not to mention the whee of exploding snails. We were faced with what appeared to be a mountain of material – old rasp canes, rotten timber, even whole trees.

However, the event went to prove the old adage – many hands make light work – as with over a dozen helpers pitching in at different times, the last bundles of stuff were consigned to the flames by the early afternoon.

With apologies to the many I failed to get photos of, it was great to see the site get a major clean-up and so much rubbish cleared away.

Community Sunday in March

The first Community Sunday for 2015 is scheduled for March 15 and we plan a communal bonfire on that day – if the weather gods permit.  Other activities may include helping with a general Spring Clean of the site and preparation of the intended plot for youngsters to use.

If you have materials on your plot suitable for burning on the bonfire please bring them along on the day or drop them off at the top of the site in the open area next to the Deeside Line.  Please do not leave materials unsuitable for a bonfire.

Kickoff with be at 11.00am as usual and there will be coffee and cake at the Bothy for all volunteers at the end – say at 12.30.
