Community Sunday

The weather seems to be set fair, so we are hoping for a bumper turnout for this week’s Community Sunday – 21 May.

Coming along is a great way to meet other plotters and get up to date with what’s going on around our site.  We have a lot happening right now and many helping hands make for light work.

I hope we will see the regulars and some new faces on the day.  As always, there will be coffee and cake (about 12.30) in the sunshine and plenty opportunities for a natter during and after the activities.

The hit squad cometh…

We had a special day on site today, thanks to the heroic efforts of a special sponsored volunteer squad, pulled together by Ross from Plot 99A

Left to right: Danny, Ranatta, Victoria, Fiona, Ellie, Ross

They worked tirelessly and managed to complete the weeding of the old wild flower meadow and make a great start on filling the new raised beds with spent compost and leaf mould.  Better still they were great fun to work with and very much up for a laugh.  Best of all – they brought a bit of sunshine and warm weather with them.  About time too!

Our thanks go to the whole team for a fantastic effort and to Ross for organising everything.

Carole Baxter’s Visit

It was a pleasure to welcome Carole on site today.  The warmth of her personality was very much-needed to brighten what was an exceptionally dull, cold day – more like February than April.

Carole was gathering material for her Radio Scotland programme, “Out for the Weekend” which comes out on Friday afternoon.

Carole Baxter April Visit

Carole is a regular visitor to Garthdee Field as you know and plans to be back with us on April 26 from around 10.00.  Carole will be hoping to record some material for her Radio Scotland programme, Out for the Weekend.

If you would like to meet with Carole, please come along.  We cannot promise, but for sure Carole will want to meet as many plotters as time allows.

Carole has been very supportive of our efforts in the past, personally donating flowers to the South Bank and taking a great interest in our activities in the Community Garden and on our plots.

Please do try to find the time to come along with any questions or stories you want to tell.  The more the merrier!

Phew – Scorching HOT!

It was hot work indeed at today’s bonfire, but as always, at the end of the day, it was Plotters 1 (Won) Rubbish 0 (Gone).  There is a joke in here somewhere, but I am still too tired to work it out!  Suggestions on a postcard please.  Apologies to all those who missed out on the photo.
