Upcoming Events

COMMUNITY SUNDAY
Just a reminder that this Sunday 15th March is the third Sunday in the month and that means it’s Community Sunday at the allotment site. Hopefully as many as possible will be able to come along and help for just an hour or so with various community activities around the site. Meet around 11am. As usual we will stop for coffee and cake at 12.30.

BONFIRE
We plan to have our annual bonfire on Thursday 19th March starting at 10am. If you are free please come along to help feed the bonfire with the vast quantity of plot waste to be burned.

This is your last chance this season to get rid of any scrap wood or raspberry canes, tree prunings etc. – no carpets or plastics.

Introducing Rory Raitt

We met Rory on his first visit on site today.

Rory is a professional photographer here in Aberdeen and is interested in using Garthdee Field as the focus for a Photo Essay with the intention of celebrating allotments as important green spaces.

I am sure all plotters will give Rory a warm Garthdee welcome when he is next on site. But don’t pester him too much for portraits of your prize parsnips!

August Efforts

Forgive the pun. Well, today’s Community Sunday gathering just went to show – when the going gets tough, the tough get going!

Anyone for a little light weeding?

They also serve, who sit and stare
Just call me the Chain_Gang Boss: it’s dirty work, but somebody’s got to do it.
Coffee and Cake: for what we are about to receive, may we be spared food poisoning.
It’s time to go for Ron’s Rock Cakes again while nobody’s watching.

Apologies to all who were not photographed today and to all whom the captions offend. We had approaching 20 participants and got a fantastic amount of work done. Huge thanks to all who managed along – but next month we can squeeze in a few more for sure. We look forward to seeing you then.

August Community Sunday

All set for this Sunday’s efforts? Coffee and cake as ever. Or a chance to check out the new lawnmower!

Community Sunday Success

Huge thanks go to everyone who helped make today’s Community Sunday (perhaps) the very best ever. Too many to name, but thanks to all. Lots done and great fun.

Apologies to the many who missed out on a photo – The photographer was being worked way too hard.

It’s TAMS time again

Collections for The Allotment Market Stall (TAMS) start this Thursday.

TAMS is a wonderful project that sells our surplus produce to the public and so spreads the benefits of allotment working into the wider community while at the same time making a contribution back to our GFAA funds.

Please leave any (saleable) donations you can make into the special trays by the Bothy by noon, Thursdays.
