Summer Colours

Summer 2016 has been a memorable one for GFAA and full of colours, but today the blooms on site seemed to suggest it was sliding passed a wee bit.  For more photos visit the Photos Tab above and click on Summer Colours 2016.

Plotting – a Guardian Essay

We don’t often link to other people’s sites around here, but this item on plotters from the Guardian is well worth a look and great fun to boot.  Looks like these plotters would fit right in around here!

A very special Community Sunday

Today’s Community Sunday saw our best ever turnout with plotters, volunteers and friends from the Macmillan and RGU plots all well represented.  As a result we got a bucketload of tasks done on the wider site.

Sincere thanks to everyone who made it along and turned in such a wonderful team effort and to the bakers for the affa fine cakes.  Gold medals all round!

Macmillan Progress

it was great fun today joining the Macmillan team as they started work fencing off their plot and super to see the progress they have made this year.

Two heads are better than one

I came across Sandy about to head home with this splendid cauliflower.

As I said to him, he is going to need a lot more cheese to go with this one!

Frank Laird

Sadly our longest serving plotter Frank Laird passed away on Tuesday 19th July. Frank started at Garthdee allotments in 1968 on Plot 26. Frank was well respected at the allotment and always had a friendly greeting for other plotters. As you might guess he accumulated a lot of helpful information regarding growing vegetables which he readily shared with other plotters. Our sympathies go to his wife Peggy and family.
