These two visited the Sedums on my plot today – along with dozens of bees, including some honey bees I am pleased to say. Can anyone tell me what they are? Are they both the same species?

Our Allotment Association at Garthdee Field has been short-listed for a grant from the Skipton Building Society. The final award is by public vote. We hope to use the grant to improve facilities in our Community Garden and so bring the benefits of plotting to youngsters and adults with disabilities and health issues. Our latest Community Sunday was another great success. We were a small but select team this time but everyone certainly got torn into the late season tasks that needed doing.
On the afternoon of 3 October GFAA will welcome to our site 40 students from Gray’s School of Art 1st Year Communication Programme. The students will be asked to investigate and document the location through, illustration, photography, mapping, colour, typography and so on. Their Tutor, Iain Morrison will be joining the students on their visit. It is always very interesting to see how visitors view our site from their different perspectives and I am sure all plotters will be pleased to extend a warm welcome to the students.
It was certainly hot going today, but Gordon (on the left) and Grant (on the right) helped Stuart and I make great progress clearing the dumped materials and tidying up the wood chips at the top of the site. Thanks go to both for a job well done
