Orchard Brae called this week wishing to visit our allotment site. They arrived just after 1 pm yesterday – one minibus load driven by Roddy. They stayed for an hour having a walk round admiring the many varieties of vegetables and flowers on display particularly Steve’s sunflowers – plot 37. We bumped into Gill at plot 29 who gave them some plums and rasps to their great delight. We stopped off briefly in the Octagon for some plums to eat and apples to take away. A very pleasant interlude for all concerned on a lovely sunny day.

We enjoyed a supportive and formative It’s Your Neighbourhood Assessment visit on Thursday from our new assessors, Steven Shaw and Daniel Shand.
Steven and Daniel seemed impressed with our efforts over the year and went out of their way to comment on the friendly buzz they notice on their visits to Garthdee Field. They also offered us lots of encouragement and helpful advice, especially about what actions will be needed if we decide to go for Green Flag status in the coming year.
It will be some wee time before we know the outcome of our assessment, so please cross your fingers and watch this space!
Thanks to everyone who made it along to help us prepare the site for our IYN Assessment. It was wonderful to see such a good turnout on what started out as a very unpromising day weather-wise. A special thanks to Alice (Plot Micro 2c) on her first outing on a Community Sunday and to the magnificent bakers.
What a team!
Many thanks to all who helped out yesterday at our Community Sunday. Some really hard work was done with the Primary School plot completely weeded as well as all the raised beds – all in an hour and a half. Special mention for Ava from plot 38 who gathered up stones unearthed during earlier weeding- and she’s only 8 but she did a great job.
Am I right in thinking there have been more bees around this year? I guess the weather has been to their liking. However, it’s clear they need all the help we can offer them. This is Bees’ Needs Week. Check out these ideas for helping them out.
The GFAA school visits team were invited to Kaimhill for a wee party by the Primary threes and fours who had visited with us this session. We had a great time, but plotters might want to note their reaction when they found out Peter (Plot 29) would not be able to join us.
Things changed when we said he would be back with the team next time!
