Calling All Plotters!

It’s not too late to enter your plot for the Aberdeen in Bloom Garden Competition 2019. This year’s entry form gives another wee glimpse of the glories of Sandy Inkster’s prize winning garden – as featured in the Beechgrove Garden when Jim McColl visited it.

Luckily, plots don’t have to be to this standard! Entering your plot helps fly the flag for Garthdee Field and shows support for the Council’s efforts to encourage gardening and plotting across the city.

There are a few entry forms available in the Octagon, or you can apply online using this link. Entries close 12 July.

Community Sunday June 2019

Community Sunday is this coming Sunday – we are hoping for a bumper turn out – to help us build our Arc if nothing else!

Community Sunday February

Diary Dates

I know it’s hard to believe right now, but this permafrost will lift and the growing season is just around the corner – or perhaps I’ve just been driven round the bend.

For many plotters the Gone to Seed Tarland Seed Swap and Potato Day event marks the start of the season. This community-based event is a great place to exchange locally grown, traditional varieties of vegetable and flower seeds, with many examples available free.

You will find links to the event on our Diary Page via the tab above. The Diary also gives advance notice of our Community Sunday dates for the year ahead – I know you would not want to miss them!

Community Sunday November 2018

We are hoping for a bumper turnout this coming Sunday for our last Community Sunday of the year.  It will be a chance to meet our new plotters and volunteers, celebrate a season full of successes and prepare our site for the winter ahead.

Please come along and give us an hour or so of your time if you can.

River Dee Trust Tree Planting Event

Calum Hislop from the River Dee Trust has been in contact to flag up this up-coming community opportunity.

The River Dee Trust as part of its river bank improvements is planning a significant tree planting event on the 27th April on the land behind Sainsburys.

I am getting in touch to ask if you or any of your membership would like to get involved.

The event is being organised as a community event with support from the River Dee Trust. The Scottish Woodland Trust, and the AWPR fund. Sainsburys are also offering to support the event with hot drinks and snacks.

I will forward promotional material as it is produced but thought it a good idea to flag the event up to in advance.
