Garthdee Field is a wonderful, friendly, green space. We plotters see it as, ‘our wee place in the country’.  We are enthusiastic gardeners and like sharing ideas about gardening better and greener. We want to share our enthusiasm and site with the wider community.  We are proud of Garthdee Field and our plots and enjoy showing visitors around.

The GFAA Committee manages the site in partnership with Aberdeen City Council.

Our site lies to the West of Aberdeen City in the Northeast of Scotland.  We have about 100 plotters working full, half or micro allotments and a growing band of volunteers who help us look after our grounds.  If you want to apply for a plot you need to contact Aberdeen City Council.  If you are interested in volunteering check out these details.  If you fancy a chat or a visit, contact any member of the Committee.

Our current priorities are:

  1. Sharing gardening expertise and good practice
  2. Encouraging green and sustainable gardening methods
  3. Increasing awareness of the importance of biodiversity
  4. Widening plotters’ participation in projects and social events
  5. Spreading the benefits of plot working and being outdoors into the wider community. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

I want to thank everyone for the beautiful bouquet of flowers! They arrived the day after I had my first chemotherapy session and I can’t tell you how lovely it has been to have these beautiful flowers to look at while I’ve felt so ill.

My surgeon has said that, due to complications, he will not be able to perform surgery until the tumours are shrunken considerably, so I am going through chemotherapy until October.

I hope all is going well in the allotments and the fruit and veg are coming along just fine. I intend to be back to mowing as soon as I can.

Many thanks again for the beautiful flowers!

    Dee
